Bill Beaney played for Southampton FC between 1969 and 1975 but only managed to make seven appearances for the Saints first team. Appearances were made in the league, cups ,testimonial matches and finally tour games.
He was loaned to Reading for a month in order to get first team football which was followed by a three month loan spell at Waterford in Eire. His final move before he was released by The Saints was a month at Welsh side, Swansea.
After his released from Southampton Beaney went to America and played a season for Washington Diplomats (Now DC United). On his return to England he played semi-professional football for 11 years making appearances for Poole Town, Andover and Dorchester Town
